Windows 10 Activation, Step by Step
When you start your computer for the first time you will be asked to type in your 25 digit product key.
Also if you decide to install a different version of Windows 10 (such as an upgrade to the Enterprise version) or a store-bought copy of Windows 10, you will need to activate Windows as part of the installation process. There might also be situations when Windows prompts you to activate the product, even though the product has already been activated.
You can also upgrade the machine just by entering the newly acquired activation key in the System properties. By doing this, the system automatically detects that is a different version of the operating system, and installs and downloads the new features and updates accordingly.
Activating Windows 10 over the Internet
To activate Windows 10 over the Internet, complete the following steps:
Log on to the computer as an administrator, and connect to the Internet.
Type the product key into the Product key field. Windows product key is usually on a multicolored, Microsoft-branded sticker on your PC case or underside of the laptop casing .

- Windows automatically detects whether the product key is valid.
If a User Account Control message appears, type your password or provide confirmation.
3. If product activation is successful and a Thanks, you're all done
message appears, click Close
Confirming that Windows was activated
Follow the steps below if you want to verify that Windows activation was successful.
1- Press the Win Key + I
keys to open the Settings application.
2- Click Update & security.

3- In Update & security, select the Activation in the menu on the left.
Next to Activation, look for Windows is activated.
