When you start your computer for the first time you will be asked to type in your 25 digit product key.Windows product key is usually on a multicolored, Microsoft-branded sticker on your PC case or underside of the laptop casing .  

• This license key works only with Microsoft Windows for Refurbished PCs. It will not work with Microsoft Office or any other software.

Also if you decide to install a different version of Windows 10 (such as an upgrade to the Enterprise version) or a store-bought copy of Windows 10, you will need to activate Windows as part of the installation process. There might also be situations when Windows prompts you to activate the product, even though the product has already been activated.

You can also upgrade the machine just by entering the newly acquired activation key in the System properties. By doing this, the system automatically detects that is a different version of the operating system, and installs and downloads the new features and updates accordingly.

Activating Windows 10 over the Internet

To activate Windows 10 over the Internet, complete the following steps:

1. Log on to the computer as an administrator, and connect to the Internet.

2. Type the product key into the Product key field. Windows product key is usually on a multicolored, Microsoft-branded sticker on your PC case or underside of the laptop casing .

• If a User Account Control message appears, type your password or provide confirmation.
  

Confirming that Windows was activated

Follow the steps below if you want to verify that Windows activation was successful.

1- Press the Win Key + I keys to open the Settings application.

2- Click Update & security.

3- In Update & security, select the Activation in the menu on the left.

Next to Activation, look for Windows is activated.

Windows 10 comes with a reset feature similar to Windows 8. A system reset essentially gives you a fresh Windows installation, although in Windows 10 you have the option to keep your personal files. 

To reset your computer from within Windows 10, press Windows + I to launch the Settings app, head to Update & security. In this window, on the left side, find Recovery. Under Reset this PC go ahead and click Get Started. 

You’ll now be prompted with two options. Keep my files and Remove everything. 

Click on the one you want to do, in this case, I’ll be keeping my files. If you want a clean install and remove everything, you’ll need to have your Windows Media plugged in and go ahead and let it do a full wipe and reinstall of Windows 10.

Your PC will now get things ready, it’s working on what you will need to reinstall via the internet or CD . Windows is now loading the list of applications you’ll need to reinstall. Once it’s done, I will now prompt you with what will be removed, take a note of this, I’ve forgotten to install apps countless times before.

Once Windows is done doing its thing, you’ll now be prompted to “RESET”. This is death trigger time, once you’ve pressed this button there is no going back, so please make sure you have everything you need. Refreshing a Windows 10 might take around 15 minutes or more depending on the speed of computer.

After your Windows 10 is refreshed, it should be as fast and reliable as a brand new machine.
